What we have been doing
We have downloaded and completed the eco-schools Environmental Review. Our scores were quite low, the recent changes to our fencing and trees have affected our scores. We take care of the apple and pear tree each week and the hebes that are planted in the entrance.
We think the best plants for our school are:
Sunflower, honeysuckle, hawthorn, forget-me-nots, snapdragons and buddleia.
April 2025
"Today, we participated in a litter pick. We started in the field and picked up litter across our school grounds and we went onto the road outside our school and the nearby road. There was quite a lot of litter under bushes and in grassy areas, but the most common thing we found on the roads and footpaths were cigarettes and sweetie wrappers. We were able to pick up a whole bag of litter and we discovered that possibly, some of the litter outside our school was made from the children at St Cecilia's`s and the public in North Cheam."
"This week,we talked about where to put our bird houses/feeders and hanging baskets. We went around the school searching for appropriate places to put the equipment .In the end we hung the tomato plants on a fence in our school garden along with the bird houses on the trees. In our meeting,we bought some bird feeders off Amazon and decided where to place them. Before hanging the tomato plants,we watered them and discussed which fruit and vegetables we could also plant. We also came to a conclusion that we should water the plants every day. We have some images to go alongside."
